Thomas Boyd Oak, aka, "Boyd Oak"
Named in honor of Colonel Thomas Boyd LSU's president from 1896 to 1927. This tree began it's life around 1758, that means that it witnessed, so to speak, the capture of the Spanish fort in 1810, the federal occupation in the 1860's, and I can't began the think of how much more.

The plaque commemorating the Boyd Oak needs to be maintained for historical reference. Just last week I noticed that the plaque was unearthed - probably due to the removal of the oak. The plaque needs to be situated in a more aesthetic manner.
